What forms for payments does The Colony accept for Memory Care?
At The Colony you may use private pay under your long term care insurance policy, if you have one. Unfortunately, we do not accept subsidized payments in these specialty areas.
How do I find out about subsidized programs for an assisted living apartment?
You may call The Senior LinkAge Line 1-800-333-2433 for long-term care options counseling. For the Elderly Waiver program, call Hennepin County 612-348-4500.
Are pets allowed?
The Colony recognizes the enjoyment and companionship pets provide their owners. In our Independent, Assisted Living and Senior Living apartments, we allow residents to keep well-behaved dogs and cats that do not inconvenience neighbors. For the wellbeing of the residents living in Specialty Care and on behalf of the animals, we do not allow pets to live within our Memory Care neighborhoods, though they are allowed to visit. Guests and visitors are allowed to bring pets as long as they are under the constant supervision of the visiting guest. There is a non-refundable fee for each pet that lives at The Colony.
Dementia and Alzheimer’s; what are they and how are they different?
Dementia is a term used to describe a collection of symptoms caused by memory impairment, whereas Alzheimer’s is a progressive disease that causes memory loss and issues with thinking and/or behavior severe enough to affect work, lifelong hobbies or social life.
Is The Colony religiously affiliated?
The Colony is non-denominational and embraces all faith traditions. Each Community has access to a variety of spiritual care services.
What are my senior living options at The Colony?
The Colony offers independent, senior living apartments, plus an a la carte menu of home health care and a hospitality services. The Colony also offers a separate, secure Memory Care area of apartments.
Does The Colony provide outpatient care or is that only provided in hospitals?
The Colony provides outpatient care for their residents who have recently had surgery. With our Home Health Care services you may return home to your Community.
Do you have space for when my family visits?
Yes, family and friends are always welcome at The Colony. We offer a short-term guest suite for visitors, and a private dining room for special events.
Do you provide transportation?
The Colony provides a comfortable, air-conditioned shuttle bus for a variety of resident outings. We also provide transportation in our own town care to medical appointments for an additional fee.
